0:41 “I have much more in this small Chrys;er…” This car is anything BUT small, even by 1975 Standards. Gm and ford already had tons of Compacts and subcompacts on the road.
My first car. I inhereted from my parents in 1988. A 1975 Cordoba. I like how Montalban describes it as a “small” Chrysler. This car was considered mid size in the mid 70s. I drove this thing for a year and it was a tank. The hood seemed like it was the length of an olympic swimming pool in front of you. Back in the 70s the hoods didn’t slope downwards to give you more of a view of the road. They went straight out and you’d use the emblem in the middle to guide.
My first ever car bought in 86. Was a decent luxury boat but the 360 engine would have had more balls with a 4 barrell carb. Nice tank that took a beating.
Well, just commenting on what I saw in the ad. I do know that one component of hydroplaning is air under the car at speed…you don’t need to go 300mph for some air bounce, lol.
I owned 2 Cordobas, the 1977 model and the 1979 model! The 77 was a bitch to drive highway, as the front end lifted up, but was even worse when it was windy! The 79 drove perfectly, and was a classy car to drive! It was Chrysler’s mid size luxury car!
could you told me who is the person who touches the song of bottom(fund), because the name of the song is aranjuez but I do not find the exact version of the song that they used in the commercial since the versions that I have of this song are not the same. thank you
Anyone notice how the Cordoba in the straight is bouncing up and down? Air is pushing up the front end–at maybe 40mph! That translates to reduced traction on the front tires–such as hard rain at 60mph.
Cars like this worked OK when gas was $0.50/gal, but when gas climbed and economy/reliability were important criteria…Ford/GM/Chrysler did not compete well against Honda and Toyota.

Are you kidding? The only way air could “lift” one of these babies is if you were going over 300 m.p.h. ! I’ve had mine to 118 & it’s smooth as glass.

That tiny pause before the first time he says “Cordoba”…can’t shake the feeling that’s because he knows he has to pronounce it wrong.
