My M5 cost me twice as much as my SRT8, but the performance difference in stock form is small. I subsequently spent $7k on a supercharger kit for the SRT & it literally gobbles up the M5 in a blink, for still nearly 1/2 the price. To the Euros who think the SRT is clumsy — it kicks the ass of the M5 in the European Superstars V8 saloon racing class. The M3 & 550i also whip the M5. I just added a Challenger SRT8 to my collection (one of 500 special editions) in case Chrysler (sadly) dies.
Really. M5 84,000$. 300 srt 35,000$. Match it up with a 88,000 z06 vette. Shut your mouth you bad teeth Brit! M5 is a nice car but put the price range a lil’ closer.
its never fair, he thinks if he does a positve review on anything american he is somehow saying he approves of the american government. and the stig in a faster car against a guy nobody has ever heard of? top gear is racist, baised but to funny. cant wait for the new episode tonight…. bastards
My wife loves her 300 SRT-8……we’ve never had a problem with it and I own a SRT-10 Ram….no problems. So, you have the Cherokee SRT-8….I’ve seen those smoke Ford Lightnings many times!
I agree I have the SRT8 engine in my Jeep BUT build quality is not good as been in garage to many times! trouble is I think to much torque and not strong enough!
V True I think point is! it was not a fair match! Clarkson has it in for US Car makers only stopping to admire models like the GT which he owned. He is a Euro freak, no issue there but this should have been more balanced . He actually gav ethe Caddy a very good review and was fastest car to date!! with stig on Top Gear!
I do like the show Top Gear but this guy has a serious habit of picking on american automobiles. The Chrysler 300 outsold every other 4 door American sedan for nearly 5 years! It’s a great car and Ford made a feeble attempt with their Ford 500 that failed horribly and not to mention the European Jaguar is beautiful but is plagued with problems! Always has been.
i know, i would very much like an atom. but if ower means nothing, how do you explain the ariel atom 500? if they make that, it will be the fastest car ever. weight is a lot, but not everything. the porsche 911 accelerates like it does because the engine, and its weight, are all on the back wheels, pushing them into the ground
i love how europeans put 50 thou car up against 100 thou cars and say the 100 thou dollar car is better. 100 thou american car will kill anything europes got

My car cost about as much as the M5 does with my modifications….wonder if he’d be down for a race against me in my rubbish SRT8 Charger….

weigh helps with acceleration and handling, but if you dont have power, downforce and balance you arent going to be fast around a track.

it has nearly 1000 hp w16 engine with 4 turbos…, while the ariel atom with 300 hp I4 accelerates just as quickly…
motorcycles with 1000cc engines accelerate faster as well, weight is everything

not true at all, bugatti veyron 4200 pounds, 0-60 2.5 seconds, top speed, 253 mph, second fastest car in the world

well for example… the engine in the cts-v might be quite a bit bigger then the m5s engine… but it weighs nearly 100 pounds less…
actually the gm ls series v8s weigh on average weigh less then 100 pounds more then your common I4….
who really cares how big the pistons are, weight is the only thing that matters….
