Mike Barnicle smacks down a Conservative douche-bag pundit on the economy, General Motors
DETROIT — General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC have held preliminary talks about a merger or an acquisition of Chrysler by GM, according to published reports. The Wall Street Journal, citing people it described as familiar with the discussions, reported that Cerberus Capital Management, the private equity firm that owns 80.1 percent of Chrysler and 51 percent of GMAC Financial Services, proposed trading Chrysler’s automotive operations to GM. The Journal said Cerberus would receive GM’s remaining 49 percent stake in GMAC. The New York Times, also citing people familiar with the talks, reported that the automakers were discussing a merger. The Times did not mention GMAC. GMAC, primarily an auto lender, also has significant mortgage lending operations that have been hit hard by the crisis in that industry. The talks have stalled because of the recent turmoil in the financial markets, according to the Journal. Its sources said negotiations could resume if markets stabilize because both GM and Cerberus want to quickly divest the assets under discussion. The negotiations between 100-year-old GM and 83-year-old Chrysler began more than a month ago, according to the Times. Its sources said the chances of a merger were “50-50″ as of Friday and likely would take weeks to complete. Both newspapers posted their stories on their Web sites late Friday. “Without referencing this specific rumor, as we’ve often said, GM officials routinely discuss issues of mutual interest with other …

The very title of this post takes credibility away from it. Just another ignorant Liberal hater calling names. This was way back in 2008….history has already proven this whole post wrong! Good Job “Liberal” Douchbag!

I agree with addisontx. As a liberal, I’m willing to concede that I’m a douche, as long as conservatives are willing to concede that they are assholes. Either way, moderates are pussies.

Its about time the government sided with the middle class and not the hedge fund managers that ran up housing and gasoline pieces that contributed to the financial crisis.
The government needs to put the collar back on the financial industry!

Many experts point to the Financial Modernization Act as the cause of the current financial crisis.

The future of the energy generation, and auto industry should be in the hands of physicists, scientists, and engineers.

The suppliers of parts for GM and the other auto makers also supply the MILITARY so its a national security issue if the parts suppliers are hurt if GM shuts down. We need to simply force them to reduce upper manmagement and Ceo compensation, dividens and some workers pay and innovate. We need at least one major auto maker. Also why allow foreign cars to come here and ours face trade barriers and tarrifs in other countires?

any collapse of any of the big three would be catastophic. not only for the detroit area, but the whole nation. we cannot let any of them go under even though ‘risky business’ possibly was going on behind the scenes with the big auto executives.

I hope we have the courage to let GM go under. We need to let some of the waste out of the system. We need to set a new labor relationship with the automakers along the lines of the auto plants in the South that are non-union and making great “foreign” cars in America. Sure, throw the management bums out but make sure the union leeches are booted with them.

Its they’re fking fault. They can do all sorts of things to stimulate new car purchases. how about 15,000 credit for trade ins for cars of year 2000-on no matter what car it is. How about stop making cars every year to every 4 years. Or stop making different brand names when the models are identical. (Ford/Merc. Chevy/Cadillac) the market has changed. how many friccken brands does GM have? GMC Chevy Cadillac Saturn Pontiac Hummer Saab Buick Izusu, yeah they still make Izusu…

You couldn’t be more right.
AND…
Ron Paul is an outspoken, truth spewing HERO. Why wouldn’t the rightwing voters listen to him? Maybe he is just not conservative enough. These are not conservative times though. We need a radical plan and we needed it yesterday.
The national debt is 56 TRILLION DOLLARS.
Thats 480,000 DOLLARS PER HOUSEHOLD!
SCARY!!!
Wait until the end of the year. The debt will be even more outstanding.
WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

If GM of Ford were into making weapons of death they would be in the black right now … the bush administration and John Scenile warmonger McCain love war and death and will do anything by their own actions to promote it.
Maybe Obama with the attitude of Diplomacy first will make the world and America believe we can be great again … OH, I am a Conservative Republican, but I cannot vote for 4 more years of McBUSH!
I was a delegate for Ron Paul for the GOP …

One mistake: EVERY “Fuel” will be a subject of abuse, special interests, and even WAR – including WATER! Barak is a busy man, surrounded by “old guard” advisors, so evidentally he hasn’t heard that FUEL-LESS practical Transport has been invented and is approaching production IN THE ORIENT? Google “BioMod”, if this pretty simple cheap tech. is still beyond your present imagination.

Spread the Truth. We have to educate the republicans.
The economic crisis is the result of BUSH and Henry Paulson.Cox decided to reregulate as of Sept2008.But it was too late.Paulson was appointed by Bush in 2004.Paulson worked on WallSteet & was a major pusher in the deregulation of house markets. Thus causing, money lent & due to no income growth for the middle class for 5 years, they couldn’t keep on the loans. This is a short version.I ask everyone to research this, don’t use the media.
