A bankruptcy judge says Chrysler can go ahead with its plan to terminate the franchises of 789 of its dealers. US Judge Arthur Gonzalez issued the order late Tuesday afternoon. It says the franchises can no longer act as authorized Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers, effective immediately.

American automaker Chrysler may be forced to file chapter 11 bankruptcy after talks with hedge funds broke off. The talks were aimed at reducing Chrysler’s debt before a midnight deadline. (April 30)
